David Foley & Jack Smedley will be in concert at the Old King's Head, Belper on Saturday 18th April, 2020 and they will be joined by the incredible guitarist and Belper favourite, Jenn Butterworth who recently won "Musician of the Year" at the 2019 MG Alba Trad Awards.

As founding members of the award winning act RURA, for the past decade, David Foley & Jack Smedley have shared stages across the globe together. Over the years whilst working on the bands 3 critically acclaimed albums, the pair have spent countless hours sharing new tunes and musical ideas that were finally given voice in 2018 for a one off performance at Celtic Connections in Glasgow.

Subsequently, the duo officially joined forces to write and arrange their debut album ‘Time To Fly’, released in March 2020. Featuring David Foley on flute and Jack Smedley on fiddle, Time to Fly sees the pair getting back to basics with a self-penned acoustic album on which they are joined by long standing friends and colleagues Jenn Butterworth (Guitar), John Lowrie (Drums) & James Lindsay (Double Bass).

The pair met in Glasgow in 2008 while studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and having performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in the folk scene today, are sought after musicians in their own right. David, an award winning multi-instrumentalist grew up in and around the Irish music scene in Glasgow and Jack, originally from Cullen, was steeped in traditional fiddle music from the North-East and Highlands as a youngster.
